McCallum soccer player Austin Gourrier, who tallied five total goals in the Knights’ 3-0 win over LBJ on Feb. 21 and 5-0 win over Northeast on Feb. 24, was voted the Covert Chevrolet Bastrop Austin-Area Boys Athlete of the Week for Feb. 19-24.
Gourrier received 45% of the vote.
Hyde Park lacrosse player Jack Braddock, Connally soccer player Orlando Frias, Georgetown swimmer Jeremy Kelly and Stony Point basketball player Josiah Moseley were the other candidates. Dripping Springs wrestler Alec Rill won the previous week’s poll for Feb. 12-17.
The American-Statesman will have a weekly vote for Boys Athlete of the Week and Girls Athlete of the Week throughout the academic year.
