A small delegation from Chicago led by Mayor Lori Lightfoot made a stop in Austin, Texas today to visit with local tech founders and investors.
The invite-only roundtable provided an opportunity to connect with Mayor Lightfoot and engage in a discussion about the innovative approach to partnership and business opportunities developed by Chicago.
The meeting consisted of opening remarks by Mayor Lightfoot and Samir Mayekar – Deputy Mayor, City of Chicago; followed by a brief presentation from Michael Fassnacht – Chief Marketing Officer for the City of Chicago; President & CEO, World Business Chicago.
During the discussion attendees had an opportunity to learn firsthand about the fascinating business opportunities and get a bird’s eye view of the Chicago business landscape.
Many reveled at the vast opportunities noted by the data showing Chicago as one of the most diverse economies among large US metros but provided feedback about the lack of positive media coming out of the Windy City.
Poised, confident and in a matter-of-factly style, Mayor Lightfoot addressed her city’s “image”, provided data showing that the city has a lot to offer and promised that her staff will take the feedback and continue working to build a city that is safe and equitable for all.
