Austin Spurs host Black Heritage Night

Black Business Journal 1 month ago

The Austin Black Business Journal & Community News Magazine is proud to share an exciting invitation from the Austin Spurs as they kick off Black History Month with a powerful celebration of culture, community, and connection.

On Thursday, January 29 at 7:00 PM, the Austin Spurs will host Black Heritage Night at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park, bringing together community leaders, organizations, creatives, and families from across Central Texas for an unforgettable evening.

A Night of Culture, Community, and Celebration

Black Heritage Night is more than a game—it’s a gathering rooted in appreciation for the diverse community that makes Central Texas thrive. The evening will feature a Pregame Sneaker Summit, presented in partnership with Kicking It, an Austin-based business championing sneaker culture and entrepreneurship.

With more than a dozen sneaker and clothing vendors showcased on the concourse, fans will have the opportunity to shop, connect, and experience local creativity up close. Doors open at 6:00 PM, allowing guests plenty of time to explore before tipoff.

Supporting Education and Student-Athletes

Community impact remains at the heart of this event. A portion of select ticket sales from Black Heritage Night will directly benefit Huston-Tillotson University Athletics, helping to support student-athletes and higher education opportunities within our community.

This partnership underscores the importance of investing in institutions that cultivate leadership, excellence, and opportunity for future generations.

A Call to Community Partners

The Austin Spurs encourage community partners to share the complimentary ticket link with their:

  • Staff

  • Board members

  • Donors

  • Volunteers

  • Community members and families

The goal is to fill the arena with organizations and individuals who strengthen Central Texas every day through service, leadership, and innovation.

Honoring Legacy and Looking Forward

As the community reflects during MLK Jr. weekend, Black Heritage Night offers a meaningful continuation—celebrating culture, creativity, and collective progress. It’s a moment to honor legacy while building connections that move us forward together.

The Austin Spurs look forward to welcoming the community on January 29 for a night that highlights the power of unity, pride, and shared purpose.

For questions or additional information, community partners are encouraged to reach out directly. We hope to see you there.
