Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s First Stop in the ATX – To Meet with Austin’s Black Community Leaders

Mayor Pete Buttigieg's First Stop in the ATX - To Meet with Austin's Black Community Leaders
Black Business Journal 6 years ago

Mayor Pete Buttigieg, candidate for President of the United States, made a campaign stop in Austin, Texas earlier today.  His first official stop was to a small, private lunch with African American leaders at Hoover’s Cooking in East Austin.

Mayor Buttigieg laid out some of his key policies and programs and African American leaders had an opportunity to share issues that are important to their community and hear directly from Mayor Buttigieg on how he plans to address them if elected president.

Mayor Buttigieg spoke a great deal about The Douglass Plan, A Comprehensive Investment in the Empowerment of Black America, which aligns with one of his top three issues freedom, security and democracy.

The Mayor of South Bend, Indiana is currently running in fifth place according to the latest polls released on Wednesday. He is one of nine Democratic candidates who have qualified for the third debate in Houston in September.
