BLACK BUSINESS JOURNAL NAMES THE 2021 TOP TEN DOCTORS AWARD WINNERS
Austin Black Business Journal announced the winners of its 2021 TOP 10 Doctors Award. These trailblazers will be celebrated at a reception in their honor Saturday, November 20, 2021 at J.W. Marriott, downtown Austin at 6:00pm.
Presented annually, the TOP 10 Doctors Award recognizes ten Black professionals in the medical field who have achieved excellence and have actively paved the way to success for others.
“These individuals are the best in their field. They are world-class physicians who perform groundbreaking procedures and provide high-quality compassionate care on a daily basis”, said Black Business Journal Publisher Anita C Roberts.
The Top 10 Doctors Award recognizes the highest performing, most clinically astute medical care practitioners in the region. These physicians provide the most advanced medical expertise and knowledge to patients – often saving lives in the process. And they still make time to give back in our community by mentoring and teaching others, said Roberts.
Patients and families looking for a specialist can be confident that these physicians and surgeons who are skilled in more than 25 medical specialties are the best in their field Almost half of them are connected to the prestigious academic medical system – Dell Medical School.
“It is quite an honor to be recognized, Dr. Garrett Scales, 2019 Top Ten Doctor said. “I grew up in Houston, there were black engineers, black architects, black lawyers, black astronauts, head of the police force, mayors. So, the beauty for me and other black professionals I know – there was no limit to what we could achieve because on a daily basis we got to see African Americans in all walks of professional life. So, there was never any doubt on what a black man could be or do if you work hard. That is powerful.” Scales went on to say.
