Achievements in Black Austin, Vol II is hot of the presses. Inside this print edition you will find nearly 300 stories triumph and determination. This full color paperback is a virtual “Who’s Who” of African American success in Central Texas.
Anita C Roberts, Publisher & Editor-in-Chief, explains, “Austin is a city with an incredibly talented pool of black professionals and community leaders. This is an opportunity to collaborate and include a number of powerful stories in one book. Volume II shares the stories of nearly 300 Austinites. In 2017 our inaugural edition documented more than 200 stories. It’s quite remarkable.”
Roberts says, “Volume II, includes around 19 Public Officials, 21 Unsung Heroes, 23 Lawyers, 23 Doctors, 23 Entrepreneurs, 31 Journalist, 37 Techies, 39 Community Leaders, 40 Black Churches, Artists, Realtors and Educators.” Nelson Linder, President, Austin NAACP, believes this is an opportunity to remind our community of the valiant contributions of those Austinites who’ve paved the way for so many. “This book, this entire project is long overdue,” he said.
The 2019 book unveiling and awards celebration is scheduled for Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the J.W. Marriott at 6pm. The event includes a reception to honor our Top Ten Diversity Champions and a black-tie gala to celebrate African American culture and celebrate Excellence on a grand scale.
